Since the opening of Shilpgram, the Bharatiya Lok Kala on Panch Vati Road just north of Chetak Circle has been squarely upstaged, and its hard to think of a reason why anyone would want to look at tired models and bleached-out photographs of the state's folk traditions when the genuine article can be experienced live across town.

That said, visitors interested in puppetry will find some inspiration here. Short amusing puppet shows (free) are staged throughout the day, while longer performances take place between noon and 1pm and 6pm and 7pm (Rs30). In addition, the museum runs short courses in puppet-making and theatre; call in for details.
