Jodhpur's main railway
station is in the south of town, a couple of kilometers west of the state bus
stand. Private buses drop you near the main railway station.
From the airport , 4km south, an auto-rickshaw into town costs Rs50; taxis
charge around Rs200 (go to the RTDC prepaid taxi counter in the arrivals
lounge). In town, these are supplemented by tempos that follow fixed routes
along the main roads. Bicycles can be rented from shops near the railway station
(Rs3/hr).
The excellent tourist office (Mon-Sat 7am-8pm), in the RTDC Goomar Tourist
Bungalow on High Court Road, has timings for private bus services and keeps
lists of families offering paying guest accommodation.
The State Bank of India is behind the Collectorate, off High Court Road (Mon-Fri
10am-2pm, Sat 10am-noon), but you can change money more quickly at LKP, 1
Mahavir Place, opposite the Circuit House (near Hotel Ajit Bhawan ), or Ritco
Travels, opposite Arun Hotel , Police Chowk, Sojati Gate, not far from the
railway station.

The Head Post Office ,
for poste restante and parcel packing, is opposite the Govind Hotel on Station
Road. Internet access is widely available these days, even amid the medieval
labyrinth of the old city. A convenient and competitive place to head for is
Sweet Dreams in the lobby of the RTDC Goomar Tourist Bungalow on High Court
Road, who use several different ISPs and are thus more likely to have a
dependable connection.
Jodhpur's best English-language bookstore is Khazanza Books, in the Taj Hari
Mahal , on Residency Road.
